Combat income comes from damage, destroyed modules, defeated AI entities, and pilot kills. The server owns these awards in multiplayer, including sub-gold damage fractions, so the visible result feed cannot create extra currency by itself.

Damage gold and fractional carry
Every ten points of accepted damage is worth one gold. If a hit is worth less than one whole gold, the server keeps the fraction and combines it with later damage. For example, 6 damage stores 0.6; another 7 damage crosses 1.0, awards one gold, and leaves 0.3 for the next hit. A respawn creates a new run state, so a remainder below one gold is not preserved across death.
Grouped combat-result messages
Enemy Hit, Module Destroyed, Enemy Destroyed, and Killed are merged into a short combat window instead of covering the center with separate boxes. All gold and XP are added together. The feed shows the highest-priority result—Killed above Enemy Destroyed above Module Destroyed above Enemy Hit—and prefixes repeated Module Destroyed, Enemy Destroyed, or Killed results with their count.
Killed and Enemy Destroyed show the defeated target name. Module Destroyed intentionally omits the module name. These are presentation rules only: every server award in the group is still included in the displayed total.
Enemy and objective rewards
Base regular-enemy kill gold is 15 for a Skiff, 30 for a Heavy, 63 for a Tank, and 182 for a Destroyer before a run-specific reward multiplier. Bosses, caches, loot, and structures have their own values. Eligible signed-in profiles receive one XP for ordinary enemy and boss kills; caches and loose loot follow separate reward paths.
Human respawn gold
The next human ship starts with 500 gold, plus 30% of the previous whole-gold balance rounded down, 25 gold for every installed module, and half the purchase cost of each unlocked skill. Unlocked skills reset on death. Upgrade levels also reset and do not add a separate refund.
